Supporting Our Teachers, One Supply at a Time

Welcome to the Teacher Supply Store

Each year, teachers across the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School (CHCCS) system spend hundreds of their own dollars to provide classroom essentials for their students. At East Chapel Hill Rotary, we believe our teachers deserve better — and since 2008, we’ve been working to make a difference.

The Teacher Supply Store is one of our proudest annual initiatives. In partnership with the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation, we provide free classroom supplies to CHCCS teachers each August — just in time for the new school year. Since launching the store, we’ve distributed more than $625,000 in donated supplies, helping teachers reduce the burden of out-of-pocket expenses.

In 2024, we reached an important milestone: for the first time, every CHCCS teacher received a shopping voucher to use at the store. In previous years, only half the district’s teachers were eligible. While this expansion was a huge step forward, it did require lowering the amount of each voucher. Our next goal is to raise the funding levels — not just to previous amounts, but hopefully even more — so we can increase the value of each voucher and offer more than one store event per year.

We’re deeply grateful to our community sponsors — including Walmart, Staples, UNC Health, and Triangle Office Equipment — for making this program possible. But we still need your help.
